What is a Cell
Church?
A cell church is
people meeting together to worship God, grow in spiritual maturity and reach out
to their friends and neighbors through basic Christian Communities (Cell
Groups). A Cell Church is A Relationship based structure that Equips Believers
for One to Another Ministry. It is a way for us to experience church like
we
read about in the New Testament!
What is a Cell Group?
A Cell Group meeting is three or more people who meet
regularly (each week) to grow in their relationship with God and each other.
People in the cell group seek to grow spiritually while
reaching out to others in their sphere of influence. A cell group meeting is
primarily a time for the Church to function as the body of Christ by worshiping
God, applying the Word of God to daily life and ministering to one another
through the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit.
THE CELL GROUP IS
THE BASIC UNIT OF THE CHURCH!
In the New Testament church, we find that they met together
"daily in the temple courts and from house to house." The cell group is the
vital "house-to-house" ministry that we read about in the New Testament.
Our Sunday meeting is the CELEBRATION EVENT or the "in the temple
courts" ministry. For that reason,
everyone in our church is
encouraged to become connected to community of believers in a
cell group.
Our Weekly Cell Groups:
"From house to house"
A cell group is a group of believers
committed to one another through a relationship with Jesus.
Cell group meetings are much more than just a “Bible study,” a “prayer meeting”
or a fellowship event. A cell group functions as the body of Christ by
worshiping God, applying the Word of God to daily life and ministering to
one another as well as reaching out to non-believers through the
power, direction and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The Cell group is not “a meeting” or a
“program” of the church. Cell groups are the basic unit of the church.
We believe in “one to another ministry” and
the “priesthood of all believers.” Therefore, “Small groups” are not just
a program at Cornerstone. Every member at Cornerstone is encouraged to become
connected to the “body of Christ” by participation with other believers in a
cell group.
Our Sunday Celebration:
"In the temple courts"
Our Weekly Celebration is a gathering of the
basic Christian communities (cells) along with seekers and other believers for
corporate worship. This meeting is similar to the
in the
temple courts gatherings described in the
New Testament. We meet at least once each week as the gathered body of Christ to
pray, fellowship, worship God to be equipped as leaders (people of influence)
with God’s vision, power and passion for ministry and service in the world.
CELLS ARE WHO WE ARE... NOT
JUST WHAT WE DO...
A CELL GROUP is a Basic Christian Community - people
committed to one another through a relationship with Jesus. For Cornerstone,
cell groups are not just "one of" the things we do.
